Welcome Nashville Software School (NSS). NSS is focused on helping people with limited or even no formal technical training/experience qualify for entry-level or junior software developers jobs.

This summer we are launching Nashville Software School (NSS).  NSS is
focused on helping people with limited or even no formal technical
training/experience qualify for entry-level or junior software
developers jobs.  We're looking for people with the aptitude, desire
and motivation to become software developers but who do not yet have
the training and experience.  Our program is centered around an
apprenticeship model with hands-on work doing real web development or
app development projects combined with lots of mentoring and intensive
training. Students who qualify as an apprentice after the summer
program will start to earn a stipend in September of this year as they
work their way through the apprenticeship program.

A great read! Mr. Brin skewered governments, Facebook, Apple and the copyright grab by the entertainment industries in uncharacteristically blunt terms for the mounting threats.

Sergey Brin, Google’s co-founder, kicked off The Guardian newspaper’s “Battle for the Internet” series last week with a full-throated defense of open data and an open Internet. “Web freedom faces the greatest threat ever,” he warned.

Mr. Brin skewered governments, Facebook, Apple and the copyright grab by the entertainment industries in uncharacteristically blunt terms for the mounting threats. He condemned authoritarian regimes such as China, Saudi Arabia and Iran, of course. And he chastised the steady creep of complex, costly and unpredictable government regulation and national security pressures in all countries.

WHAT IS TECHVILLE?

TechVille, formerly known as Technology Nashville, is NTC’s annual
flagship event focusing on the state of technology in our region and
highlighting technology innovation, talent, and entrepreneurship. The
event draws a diverse crowd of approximately 300 tech professionals
and community leaders – from senior level executives to the front line
creative class.

TechVille will include keynote and breakout sessions addressing today’s
top tech trends including mobility, analytics, social and digital media,
innovation, and tech talent. The theme for this year’s event is Tech Doers,
Dreamers, and Drivers
and includes three new exciting components.

• For Doers – Hear from the pros in the Nashville tech community who
are getting things done! Take advantage of this time to mingle with
others who are taking care of business and share ideas with your peers.

• For Dreamers – At least three demonstrations of emerging and innovative
technologies will be presented between keynote and breakout sessions.
These inspiring demonstrations are sure to generate ideas and even
more technology innovation in Middle Tennessee.

•  For Drivers – TechVille will include an invitation only C-Suite breakfast
and presentation, and attendance at the morning keynote presentation.
Topics to be addressed – at an executive level – are how to overcome the
tech talent crisis with geo-diversity, growing your own techies, and
changing the work environment.

Plus, the TechVille.us 2012 map will be released during TechVille.  We
are excited to present both a hard copy edition for display in our members’
offices, as well as an updated on-line version that will eventually link to our
members’ sites and company information.

WHO ATTENDS?

With a new, varied approach to addressing top tech trends and topics,
TechVille will appeal to start-ups, emerging growth companies, as well as,
medium to large enterprises.  This year’s event will attract all levels
of employees, from the C-Suite through the front-line.  Whether you are
a coder or a corporate executive, you will find a place to fit in at TechVille.

If you love awesome people, technology, startups, & the occasional Red Bull, then you might want to be at Techville tomorrow!

Innovation Nashville will not be having its normal First Tuesday of the month event. Instead we are inviting our guests and attendees to join us April 11th for digitalmusic.org’s Music Start Up Academy.

The Music Start Up Academy is meant to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with all the information they need to break down the music industry’s barriers for entry, encouraging the creation and growth of innovative new music companies. Specifically, these sessions will address the core structure, legal framework, content deals, business models, and other fine details required for the establishment of a legal, streamlined, and competitive music property. "Musicians and artists, technology professionals, entrepreneurs and investors who are interested in doing business in the expanding digital music space should take advantage of this half day course in what makes digital music businesses work," said Steve Bogard of The Copyright Forum At Belmont University.
